This Business Project Management assignment has two scenarios. The first asks you to plan a client software project at Technolite; the second asks you, as an HR executive, to turn a workplace facility idea into a project with a proposal, stakeholder analysis, team development plan, closure and risk plan.

Project 1: Technolite

Technolite develops customised software for each client. It studies the client’s operations, structure, objectives and requirements, builds the software, installs it in the client’s IT system, trains staff and managers, and then handles reviews, follow-ups and complaints. You are the product manager assigned to one client project and must build your own team as full-time project manager for the next few months.

1. Outline the stages of the project life cycle and what each stage will look like in your assigned project. [10]
2. Identify and explain the main reasons why your project could fail, in the context of the case. [10]
3. Design a work breakdown structure (WBS) for the project, using the subject template or your own. [15]

Project 2: Workplace Motivation at an E-commerce Firm

You are an HR executive at an e-commerce firm where motivation has dropped. Staff are exhausted and stressed by workload, and they say managers focus only on work and there are no facilities such as game rooms or cafeterias to relax.

1. Select a workplace facility, such as a game room or café, treat it as a project and produce a project proposal plan to present to the HR director. [25]
2. Identify the primary, secondary and key stakeholders and analyse them with the matrices covered in the subject, justifying each stakeholder’s interest. [15]
3. Based on your chosen timescale, explain how you will help team members through each stage of Tuckman’s team development. [10]
4. Describe the arrangements needed to close out the facility project. [8]
5. Identify the common risks and sources of risk for your project and how you would prepare for each. [7]
